Iván joined Marini Pietrantoni Muñiz LLC as an associate in December 2019. Before joining the firm, Iván served as the Associate Director of Legal Affairs of the Puerto Rico Fiscal Agency and Financial Advisory Authority, where he advised the Government of Puerto Rico and its instrumentalities on all matters related to the Puerto Rico Oversight, Management, and Economic Stability Act and the restructuring of Puerto Rico’s debt obligations. He also advised on all litigation matters and strategy related to the Title III restructuring proceedings.
Iván also served as the Commonwealth’s Market Disclosure Agent. He was responsible for the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico’s and its instrumentalities’ compliance with market disclosure obligations required under Rule 15c2-12 promulgated by the U.S. Securities Exchange Commission and other rules issued by the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board.
Prior to public service, Iván represented investors in complex securities fraud actions against underwriters and broker-dealers. While at law school, he worked as a Commercial Credit Officer in a regional bank in Puerto Rico, where he structured complex financing deals for public and private entities. Before law school, Iván performed portfolio analysis for institutional clients and high net-worth individuals in the Investment Consulting Division of a major international bank. He analyzed the risks of portfolio holdings, including equities, fixed income securities, mutual funds, money managers and exchange traded funds.
Iván received his bachelor’s degree in Finance from Fairfield University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.
