Ignacio Labarca Morales

Ignacio joined Marini Pietranoni Muñiz LLC as an associate in February 2019 and was promoted to Counsel effective on January 1, 2022. His practice area involves commercial litigation, particularly insolvency and bankruptcy litigation matters, and he has been recognized in the 2022 Edition of Best Lawyers® in Puerto Rico for his work in Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights / Insolvency and Reorganization Law. Prior to joining Marini Pietranoni Muñiz LLC, Ignacio worked in a boutique bankruptcy law firm for several years, representing Chapter 7 Trustees, corporate debtors and creditors in complex bankruptcy litigation proceedings. Ignacio has also represented consumer creditors in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceedings. He is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Ignacio obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (BBA), with a mayor in Finance and a minor in Economics, from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus. His BBA degree was oriented towards Corporate Finance and Macroeconomics. He obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law, where he wrote an article about the Exempt Portfolio Interest Sections of the Internal Revenue Code in the Business Law Journal.
